Post Partum Haemorrhage
An enormous worry for most moms after a homebirth is.....
What if I bleed and it cannot stop ? What do I do ?
With JLK Care we teach and educate you on what to do in emergencies.
Here it goes, very simple but effective.
1. Immediatly go to the toilet if you can, if not pass urine where you are, just let go.
When your bladder is full, it prevents the uterus from contracting and you will bleed because of your full bladder.
2. Put baby immediatly to the breast to suckle, by doing this it stimulates the pituary gland to release oxytocin( hence the cramps when breast feeding) and this will help expel clots.
3. Everytime you pass urine, rub up your fundas or top of your uterus this will also help expel the clots. It is very uncomfortable but once it is out its out.
REMEMBER EVERYTIME YOU PASS URINE, RUB UP YOUR FUNDAS, YOUR MIDWIFE WILL TEACH YOU.
4. Make sure to stay hydrated and drink lots of fluids, empty your bladder at least every 4 hours for the first 72 hours to manage bleeding.
And please rest, you just had a beautiful baby.
If any concerns and you need professional help contact your midwife or primary care giver immediatly.
